What’s an elopement wedding

Ibiza has got many hidden places, places that would make you fall in love with the island, places where you can tie the knot in a minimal, intimate way.

An elopement wedding it used to be thought of as running away without telling your family/relatives, but the concept has changed over time. Nowadays, an elopement wedding means that you are marrying your best friend and celebrating with just yourselves or a small gathering in a confidential, more casual fashion.

Where to elope and how.

Elopements require minimal setup ( especially if there are no guests) which opens a wide range of ceremony locations in our geography. From the rocky landscape of Punta Galera and surrounds to the cliffs overviewing Es Vedrà, passing through the iconic and quiet Es Codolar beach.

If you are gonna gather a small group of friends and family you may want a more secure way to celebrate. Consider then booking through venues, covering yourself legally. Restaurants like Ses Roques, The Beach or Ses Savines are a good choice since will allow you to book just a part of the restaurant and will lend you their space by the sea for the ceremony.

Also, costs are lowered in a considerable way which is a great advantage, especially since you are abroad. However, don’t forget to look for a good, reliable celebrant. A wedding planner can also be helpful for general advising, legal aspects of the marriage or arranging car rentals, flowers, the restaurant, etc.

Of course, as your family and friend are gonna be far away from your special event, consider always booking a photographer/videographer, is a fundamental investment, especially since the pictures will be key when sharing your experience with your family and friends, back at home.

Make sure to celebrate it well! Get a good rest the day before. Don’t let yourself concentrate on coordinating all the details during the ceremony, no matter how simple the elopement celebration might be.

Seem obvious…but I have seen it happen a few times, don’t forget the rings! Do a checklist, it will make the task of bringing everything even easier.

Give yourself time to write your vows. From my experience, the vows in an elopement wedding are full of strength and beauty. Is just the two of you, there are no distractions and you can tell in a romantic way your deeper feelings to each other.

Give yourself a treat the days after the ceremony. Just married in Ibiza, a proper place to start your life as husband and wife.
